Spring Registration
Happy New Year!! Registration time is upon us! Baseball and softball registration is open through January 31st. A $25 “Early Bird” discount is applied to each registration completed by January 15th.
Refer to the details below on each available spring league. Remember there are unique registration links for rec, travel, baseball, softball, player and volunteer registrations. Be sure you click on the correct link. We will continue to have a Work Bond to encourage volunteer participation. This is a $100 per player, fully refundable bond that is added to Rec program registration fees.

Recreation Baseball
- Early Bird Registration: January 1-15
- General Registration: January 16-25
- Play Dates: Mid/End of March – early June (including Playoffs)
- Our Recreation Leagues will be as follows:
- T-ball (Pre-K 4 – Kindergarten)
- Instructional with practice/ games on Saturday mornings from Opening Day through the end of school.
- Players need to be 4 years old by April 1st
- American League (1st & 2nd grade);
- Instructional with practices/ games.
- One practice per week
- Saturday games
- Minor League (3rd & 4th grade)
- Play against nearby towns (e.g. Springfield, Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Kenilworth, Garwood)
- 2 games per week + practices
- Major League (5th & 6th grade)
- Play against nearby towns (e.g. Springfield, Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Kenilworth, Garwood)
- 2 games per week + practices

- Early Bird Registration: January 1-15
- General Registration: January 16-25
- Play Dates: April – early June (including Playoffs)
- Our Recreation Leagues will be as follows:
- Division 4 (PreK [age 4] – 1st grade)
- 10-week program, Saturdays only (Opening Day through the end of school)
- Players need to be 4 years old by April 1st
- Division 3 (2nd & 3rd grade)
- Games 2x per week + practice 1x per week
- Division 2 (4th – 5th grade)
- Games 2x per week + practice 1 or 2x per week
- Division 1 (6th – 8th grade):
- Games 2x per week + practice 1x per week
- Division 4 (PreK [age 4] – 1st grade)

Travel Baseball
- Early Bird Registration: January 1-15
- General Registration: January 16-25
- Play Dates: Mid/End of March – early June
- Description: Players will participate in a spring league with one practice per week.
- Our Travel programs are offered to players who wish to compete at a higher level than our Recreation Leagues offer. Players possess the desire to more actively hone their skills with like-minded peers. Players are eligible to play Spring, Summer, or Fall Travel only if they play in the Rec league during the Spring Season. Playing time is determined by merit and is a coach-by-coach decision.
- Jerseys:
- New uniforms are mandatory this spring.
- Parents order uniforms directly from our uniform vendor. All mandatory uniform items are available for purchase.

- The store closes Sunday, February 9th at midnight. Get your orders in by then.
- Note: we are using different uniform vendors for travel baseball and travel softball.

Travel Softball

- Description: 8u-14u Spring Travel. Players will participate in a spring league with one practice per week.
- Our Travel programs are offered to players who wish to compete at a higher level than our Recreation Leagues offer. Players possess the desire to more actively hone their skills with like-minded peers. Players are eligible to play Spring, Summer, or Fall Travel only if they play in the Rec league during the Spring Season. Tryouts may be held if the number of interested players for any team exceeds the roster target (~12). Playing time is determined by merit and is a coach-by-coach decision.
- Roster Age Eligibility: USA Softball is the National Governing Body of the sport of Softball in the United States and establishes age requirements for each division (8U, 10U, 12U, 14U). please refer to the USA Softball Age Chart to determine which division your daughter(s) will register for.
- Jerseys:
- New uniforms are mandatory this spring.

Junior Umpire Program
MSBL offers a Junior Umpire Program for responsible older players who want to stay involved in baseball while supporting our 1st/2nd Grade Recreation Baseball League. This is a structured, supervised program focused on leadership, responsibility, and sportsmanship.
Program Overview:

- Open to Mountainside residents ages 12 and up
- Paid position: $20 per game
- Supports 1st/2nd grade recreation baseball games
- Training provided; no prior umpiring experience required
Junior Umpires Will:
-
- Call basic safe/out and fair/foul plays
- Help manage game flow alongside coaches
- Promote a fun, fair, and age-appropriate game environment
- Training details will be announced this spring. Junior umpires are supported by league leadership and work closely with coaches on the field.
